Meet Edson. I’ve pretty much found a great-grandson.

I have no idea why, but from the moment I met Edson, I couldn’t shake him – and I didn’t want to.

Wherever I sat, Edson would sit with me. When I laid down, he stretched out on top of me. He’s one of the sweetest little guys you could ever meet.

His life has had a rough start. Born with crossed eyes and additional fingers on each hand, he was an unwanted outcast – considered to be possessed by evil spirits – who was living on the street, begging for food and for love.

But everything has changed for Edson. Father Andre Forges found him and brought him to the  Place of Hope orphanage.

The brilliant, energetic boy is enrolled in primary class at Hope school. He hangs onto me like a leech… and I can’t help but love every minute of it. You would too!

One of the daughters of our Board Chair for Place of Hope has fully sponsored Edson. He’s a fortunate boy.

There are many more like Edson who long to have someone as their sponsor, someone who cares enough to partner with Place of Hope in creating a wonderful future for a child.
Edson has had surgery to remove the extra digits on his hands and feet. A procedure to help his eyes is upcoming.

This is just one more reason I love Place of Hope in Haiti so much. We care about a child no matter their handicaps or birth defects. In the joy of caring, I feel like these children are my own great-grandchildren.

And I’d love to share some of them with you.
