Dick Stonesifer, our chairman of the board, just returned from a one-week trip to Haiti and he shared some recent accomplishments at Place of Hope in Haiti.

  1. Much has been accomplished this year. The kids are doing well, and the campus and facilities have never looked better. Although much remains to be done, Andre and his staff are working hard and have a plan for maintenance projects and improvements this summer.
  2. The Sunday services were beautiful and well attended (120). God was clearly in the room! At the end of the service our kids passed out a truck load of food bags for the attendees.
  3. We interviewed, and Andre hired an Assistant Pastor, Gerard Formond. He will be devoted to reaching out to the local community guided by the responsibilities provided by Andre. Our plan is to have him spend a month on the job to ensure a fit for him and us before he disrupts his family by moving to the area full time.
  4. We are adding a new cement driveway. It will run from the entrance to the orphanage. We hope to have it completed by the end July.
  5. The 3000sq. feet garden has been planted with many vegetables with plans to expand the banana plantation and plant congo beans.
  6. The sewing class has 20 plus girls/boys and 11 sewing machines.  They are currently making uniforms, dresses and other clothing. There are plans to make more handbags to sell or to be auctioned at our events in the future.
  7. The vocational school has built 4 sofas to be used in the two large living rooms for the children. The sewing class is making the cushions, and the masonry class will build a small block shelter for the gate guard.

It is because of the generosity of so many here in the US that we have been able to make such wonderful progress in achieving our goals for the children at Place Of Hope In Haiti. If you would like to contribute, please visit “Ways To Give”
